Sudden head tilt, circling, or falling to one side may be idiopathic vestibular disease (common in seniors) or ear infection, stroke, or toxin. Most idiopathic cases improve within days.
Vestibular signs
Head tilt, nystagmus (eye flicking), nausea, and inability to stand.
Old dog vestibular disease
Often resolves in 1–2 weeks with supportive care.
When urgent
Persistent collapse, inability to eat, or worsening over 72 hours.
